By Philip Alawode  Nigerian rapper, Zlatan Ibile has revealed that his dream career was to be a football player. The ‘Zanku’ crooner said he wanted to play for La Liga giants, Barcelona, after failing at school. He explained that he never had the intention of being a musician, stressing that he stumbled into music. In an interview with Echo Room, Zlatan said he picked interest in music after one of his friends played a song he recorded for him. He said, “I was not a bright student in secondary school. I struggled with Mathematics and Accounting. I was in a Commercial class. I failed my WAEC and I was supposed to sit at home for a year. All my dream was to play for Barcelona. “I tried my possible best but the corruption in Nigerian football discouraged me. I was playing for a local club then. UNIJOS graduates 20,532 students as 112 bag first class

By GROUP 24 The University of Jos, Plateau State, will on Saturday graduate a total of 20,532 students at its 33rd and 34th convocation ceremony. The Vice Chancellor, Professor Ishaya Tanko, who disclosed this during a pre-convocation press briefing, said out of the number, 112 of the students would graduate with first-class Honors. The VC said during the convocation, various categories of students would be awarded different degrees as well. According to him, the degrees comprised 159 PhDs, 3,669 Masters, 281 postgraduate diplomas, 11, 281 Bachelors, and 5,142 from affiliate institutions. He added that, “For the Second Class Honors (Upper Division), we have  3,093 graduating students and for the Second Class (Lower Division), we have 6,325. BVN has no expiry date says CBN

By GROUP 24 The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has clarified that the Bank Verification Number, BVN, has no expiry date.  CBN’s spokesman,  Dr. Isa AbdulMumin, made the clarification in a statement last night. He was reacting to media reports that the BVN expires after 10 years. He said: “The attention of the CBN has been drawn to reports suggesting that the BVN issued by the bank in collaboration with the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System, NIBSS, expires after a ten-year period.  Contrary to these claims, we wish to clarify that the BVN issued in Nigeria has no expiry date.  Once a customer’s biometrics have been captured and enrolled in the database of NIBSS, the BVN remains for life. By GROUP 24 The Supreme Court has affirmed the victory of Governor Ademola Adeleke as the winner of the July 16, 2022 governorship election in the State of Osun. Delivering the lead judgment in Abuja on Tuesday, Justice Agim, a member of the five man panel held that issues 3, 4, 5 and 9 of the petition of former Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola lacked merit. In a unanimous judgment, the five-man panel established that Oyetola failed to prove over-voting in his petition, noting the BVAS machines are the basis for proving over-voting. The court also held that Register of Voters is very cardinal to the process of accreditation and as such, over-voting cannot be proved without it. The justices noted that Principal Witness 1 presented by the appellants as an expert relied on hearsay evidence, and his opinion is therefore not admissible and ruled that as such, the appellants did not discharge the burden of proof placed on them by the law.
